Even after a trial has been resolved, there is still the sentencing phase which can take months to resolve. The fact is that very few cases ever go to trial each trial can take several days, weeks or even months. Only a few cases per day are actually resolved with either a plea deal or the culmination of a trial. It's a fact that the court can only handle a limited number of criminal cases per day, most of these being the initial arraignment, technicalities, continuences, etc. Most of the men and women incarcerated here are awaiting trial or waiting for their case to be heard by the Banks County Court.
